2011 SWEET SEND OFF PARTY

What an exciting class of Freshmen we have for LSU from Greater Atlanta!!

At our Sweet Send Off party held July 31st we had 35 students and 53 parents, siblings, friends and a group of 12 Atlanta LSU Alumni who experienced a great time of meeting, sharing, and seeing that LSU TIGER spirit.  A big thanks to LSU Atlanta board member Phil Adra for being Master of Ceremonies.

We introduced 2 of the 3 scholarship recipients for this year:  Emerson Ashford from Harrison High School and Joe Zerkus from Whitewater High School.  The other recipient, Cate Brooks from Lassiter could not attend.  All attending students were introduced. Among those present ten announced Mass Communication as their major, and others included Finance, Accounting, Petroleum Eng, Architecture, History, and  Chemical Engineering.

ATL Scores Two Years in a Row With National Chapter Service Awards

Every year the LSU Alumni Association hosts a chapter development workshop and recognition banquet attended by board members and key volunteers from accross the country. This year's gathering had participants from San Diego to New York City, and LSU Atlanta had three of its board members attend to learn and share.

Last year, Del Moon received one of the annual Chapter Leadership awards, the first given to an Atlanta volunteer in nearly ten years.  And last week, LSU Atlanta President Steve Ory was honored with the same award.  LSUAA congratulated Ory for steering LSU Atlanta to new levels of activity, communication and scholarship fundraising.  "Atlanta is our third largest alumni base outside of Louisiana," LSUAA Vice President Jason Ramezan said. "We are very pleased to see that the chapter has progressed so well and is now one of our stronger chapters in the country."
