Bulletin: LSU Beats Ohio State AGAIN!
By Del Moon, Tiger Band Alum
It was one of those special gatherings where you left with more than you came in with.

The “BAND TOGETHER for The LSU Tiger Band” held April 12th at Rio Grande Cantina was spirited and successful on many levels. More than 60 of Atlanta's best Tiger fans showed up in full purple and gold glory and proceeded to have one great afternoon of fun and Tiger fellowship.
The program included a BCS National Championship Game replay, a special DVD presentation message from the Friends of the LSU Tiger Band and video highlights of the Golden Band From Tigerland in action. Notably, several Tiger Band alumni attended the event and spoke extemporaneously about their experience and what being a part of the band has meant to them. LSU Alumni - Atlanta President Steve Ory and TAF- Georgia Chapter President Karen Harrison added their appreciation and encouragement to support the drive for a new Tiger Band Hall.
The event goal was to kickoff the local partnership with a good turnout and initial fundraising. The $1 raffle raised over $300. Two TAF-donated BCS footballs autographed by Les Miles and staff garnered $725 in spirited bidding at the halftime break. And the two football pool boards with the biggest prizes saw heavy initial support. Best of all, because of the Louisiana Legislature's decision to match private donations, the impact of the event is doubled and the band hall fund will see over $5,000 coming from Atlanta Tigers from this first day pf tje campaign alone!
At the end of the first day it was offered, the $10 per chance football board offering 2 SEC Football Championship tickets and Coaches Luncheon tickets was 2/3 full.
And the London “Score” Football Board (with a grand prize of airfare for two to London courtesy British Airways) had 33 of its 100 squares at $20 per chance filled in its debut. Several donors increased their odds of winning by taking multiple squares.
Both boards will appear again at the LSU Alumni Crawfish Boil on Sat. April 26th at Rio Grande. You can participate at that time or contact Band Together Atlanta chair Del Moon at gamoon@bellsouth.net to make a donation and have a spot (or two!) on the board.
Each football board winner will be determined by the final score of the first LSU football game after that board sells out. "There's no doubt the SEC ticket board will sell out at the crawfish boil," Ory said. "And when that happens, the London board will really take off." Band Together is grateful to Sign-A-Rama in Buckhead for producing and donating the beautiful large scale football boards.
Both TAF and LSUAA presidents were pleased with the level of support and cooperation between the two groups for a good LSU cause. "And we aren't stopping with this event. We will continue to promote the Tiger Band Hall project as a priority for donors throughout the year," Harrison said. "TAF members can earn points as it is an approved project for us, and LSU alumni can get a tax deduction with their donation sent through Friends of the LSU Tiger Band."
"The football boards and auctions are fun, but we want to remind people there's more they can and should do in the Tiger Band's time of need," echoed Ory.
Now that our live mascot has a good place to live, it’s time for the 325 human members of the LSU Marching Band to stop meeting in a room that was built for 125 players in 1959 and is now renowned for broken water and sewer pipes, strange unidentifiable odors and a leaking roof. LSU’s beloved "Golden Band From Tigerland" desperately needs a new home!

London Contest Rules
Here are details for how the London Score Board will be handled. Good Luck!!
LSU London “Score” Board Rules
1. The board will consist of a 100-square grid. This insures the odds of winning the trip are one in 100 per chance.
2. Each square will be sold for $20 per square with all monies earmarked for the Friends of the LSU Tiger Band fund drive to build a new band hall.
3. All payments for London board chances must be submitted locally. Donations sent directly to Baton Rouge cannot be tracked for purposes of this contest and will not be honored! However, your chance donation is tax deductible for checks made out properly; cash purchasers must provide a mailing address to receive a proper receipt from the Friends of LSU Tiger Band.
4. $20 chances may be purchased by cash or check donation only:
a. Cash – Pay only to the designated Atlanta LSUAA/TAF Band Together committee representatives. Be sure to get a temporary receipt and give your contact information in writing.
b. Check- Make payable to “LSU Alumni Assn” and write “Tiger Band – Ga. donation” on the memo.
c. If ordering a chance by mail, the address is LSUAA, P.O. Box 421103 Atlanta, GA 30342. If the board has sold out before a check arrives, you will be notified and given the option to either have the check returned or to deposit as a general donation for the Tiger Band.
5. Donors may select which square they want at events where the board is present. Mailed donations will be assigned their chance square randomly.
6. All donors must provide a minimum of their phone number (and email if applicable) which will be kept on a master list for the scoreboard for purpose of contact if the winner is not present at the LSUAA game view-in where the winner will be announced.
7. The board will remain open for sales until all squares are sold. Once filled, the next scheduled LSU football game will determine the winner. Numbers (0-9 across and down) will be randomly assigned once the board is filled. This will assure that no one will have an advantage of choosing from the most “popular” football score combinations. The last digits in the final game score will determine the winner of the London Airfare for Two courtesy British Airways. No other prizes will be awarded.
8. If the board does not sell out before the last regular season game, the final score of that game (Arkansas) will determine the winner. If the winning score selects an empty space, a random drawing from all donors’ names will determine the winner. Donors with multiple squares will have their number of chances in the drawing.
9. The prize is airfare for 2 for round trip travel from Atlanta, Georgia to London, England only. All taxes are included. Please note that blackout dates will apply to the airfares. The British Airways voucher will be presented with a letter giving specific dates. Blackout dates typically exclude dates on and/or around Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s weeks, Easter break and peak summer dates, usually mid-June through Labor Day.
