Rohan Davey and Chad Lavalais, along with event emcee Charlie Vaughn, react to fan question
While threatening weather kept some away, the nearly 50 LSU Atlanta faithful who braved the elements and came to Front Page News last Saturday were rewarded with the opportunity to shake hands and talk with Tiger football greats Rohan Davey and Chad Lavalais.
The two shared their favorite moments as players, talked about the fan fervor of the SEC (surprisingly, both agreed Florida Gator fans were the most passionate), and even fielded questions like "If you were King, what would be the first thing you would do?" although neither could really decide what that first thing would be. When asked to compare Les Miles with Nick Saban, Davey was not shy about praising his former head coach. "Saban doesn't treat you like a kid, he treats you like a football player and expects you to perform. I like that," Rohan said.
The event was emceed by LSU Atlanta board member and In Town Tigers chair Charlie Vaughn. A former athletic trainer for the LSU Tigers in the mid-90s, Charlie keeps in contact for many former players and was instrumental in arranging for the appearance of the celebrity players.

Ro and Chad are joined by (l to r) In Town Tigers co-chair Jason Horrell and LSU Atlanta board members Del Moon, Charlie Vaughn, Steve Ory and Michele Hieger.
Lavalais reported that he has enrolled back into school at LSU to complete his degree, now that his professional football days have passed. "It's important for me to do this and the time was right. I could get back into playing shape if I got called, but I want to get my Education degree and finish what I started."
Another surprise came when former LSU football player Melvin Richey showed up to visit with his friends. Richey is a Georgia native and coaches at Miller Grove High School in south Dekalb County. We might just need to get a posse of LSU fans together and go cheer for his team this fall!
Door prizes were awarded and fans filled out an In Town Tigers survey of what kinds of gatherings they want to have inside the perimeter. LSU Atlanta thanks Front Page News, Tastings - A Wine Experience in Decatur, College Station Sports Stories, Tigermania.net, The Royal Sweet and Community Coffee for the prizes and gifts given away. Thanks also to those who provided volunteer help.
