LSU vs. KY Basketball View In Saturday at Rio Grande Cantina and Buffalo Wild Wings Alpharetta

Our amazing men’s basketball team has stunned the SEC by clinching the west division and can take the SEC Championship this Saturday. Join us at Rio Grande Cantina in Buckhead or Buffalo Wild Wings in Alpharetta this Saturday to watch as LSU travels into Rupp Arena to take on the always-tough Kentucky Wildcats. Tip-off is at 4 p.m.

We have had several LSU fans inquire about view ins for big games in basketball, baseball and possibly other LSU sports like gymnastics and softball on TV this spring, but we feel strongly that we must have at least one chapter representative/host at all official events and we do not have enough volunteers yet to host every LSU sporting event that is available on TV. However, we will announce a few official chapter view ins for the most important games, particularly for postseason tournament games featuring the Tigers. (We are looking for more volunteers for all of our events – if you want to volunteer to be trained as a chapter view in host, please email us at events@lsuatlanta.com.)

Watch our newsletter for additional view ins this spring. Since tournament game times and matchups are determined on short notice, please be prepared for last minute notice in some cases.

Tiger Football Greats Rohan Davey, Chad Lavalais Will be Special Guests at “In Town Tigers” Kick Off Event at Front Page News on March 28^th

LSU Atlanta has actively solicited feedback about how to better serve alums and Tiger fans, and there have been many requests to do more events “inside the Perimeter” and more events by and for younger Tigers and others who enjoy the city lifestyle. The result is a new “In Town Tigers” committee that will plan and host several events per year. 

The kick-off In Town Tigers event will be Saturday, March 28^th from 3 to 5 p.m. at Front Page News in Little Five Points featuring a very special meet-and-greet with LSU Football legends Rohan Davey and Chad Lavalais. All LSU fans get a free ticket for great door prizes with opportunity to donate for more chances to win. More details on the program, including drink specials and a complete list of door prizes, will be posted on our Web page soon.

Charlie Vaughn, chapter board member and chair of the In Town Tigers group, has set up online network group on Facebook under “LSU Alumni Association - Atlanta” that you are welcome to join as another way to stay connected.

LSU vs. UGA Baseball Tailgate April 4^th in Athens? You bet!

Want to get an early start on tailgating and enjoying LSU beating up on an outmatched Georgia Bulldog team this year? Plans are being made now to set up a hospitality tailgate to be jointly hosted by LSU Atlanta and TAF-Georgia the LSU-UGA game on Saturday April 4 with first pitch at 1 pm. You can buy both reserved and general admission tickets from the Georgia Bulldogs Online Ticket Office - here's the link for April 4 Game Tailgate should be set up by 10 am.  More details coming soon…plan to join us and help show our support for LSU Baseball.

Renewals and New Members Are Coming in – Prize Drawings Begin Soon So Become a Chapter Member Now

A BIG THANK YOU to those who have already responded to our annual call for membership.As announced last week, one of the new benefits for this year will be Members-Only Prize Drawings from our roster of paid members approximately every six weeks for the rest of the year!

The first regular drawing will take place March 8th, plus we will have a special members only prize drawing at our Crawfish Boil on April 25^th. The first prize package is an LSU Hat plus a $25 gift certificate to Boudreaux’s Cajun Market and Café in Duluth. That’s just the start! Winners and prizes will be reported in our newsletter and the recipient will be contacted directly about receiving their prize either by mail or dropped off where they work or live.

Annual dues are only $20. Join or Renew for 2009 Today. You can join here using Paypal or by mailing in a check. Dues are for the calendar year. You don’t need to be an LSU grad to be a member, we welcome “alumni by choice” members! Your interest in supporting LSU and your dues are the only things necessary.

Coming Soon: LSU Atlanta’s Crawfish Season Guide

We’ve already alerted you to plan for our best crawfish boil ever, coming Saturday, April 25^th, with live music by Zydefunk, a “Touchdown Village” tailgate zone, and the biggest list of raffle prizes and auction items ever. You won’t want to miss it- full details and ticket sales information will be available soon.

But there are now lots of options for finding live and boiled crawfish from many of LSU Atlanta’s sponsors – markets, restaurants and caterers. We are gathering information from them and will collectively present a Crawfish Season Guide very soon to help you get your mudbug fix this spring. Watch for it coming to your inbox soon!
