KICKOFF EVENT - LSU Atlanta's "Bash Buzz" Pre Bowl Party - Tuesday Dec. 30th at Engine 11

The party starts Tuesday at 8 pm when LSU fans will flock to Engine 11, a historic former firehouse that is now a classy yet casual bar and grill at the corner of Peachtree Street and North Avenue. Come upstairs for great Tiger tailgate music and good times with your fellow fans. Get your party attitude on right as our special guests the "famous" Evil Twins are coming from Baton Rouge to share their special brand of Cajun wit and wisdom with the Tiger faithful! Great food menu! Two bars – 16 beers on draft – and yes they have Abita beer! No cover charge! Everyone gets a chance to win door prizes, including two postgame admission tickets ($150 value) to the "Downtown Countdown" New Year's Eve mega party at the Hyatt Regency, an LSU football replica jersey, DVDs and more. The Holiday Bowl game between Oklahoma State and Oregon will be shown on the big screen TV in the party area. It's THE Tuesday night blowout for LSU fans in Atlanta!

Engine 11 (formerly the Spotted Dog Pub) is conveniently located at 30 North Avenue at the intersection of Peachtree Street in Midtown. It's only one mile north of the downtown hotels on Peachtree and one short block east of the North Avenue MARTA station - just one stop north of the Peachtree Center station (Click here for a map). There is a parking lot next door and plenty of additional lots along West Peachtree and all around the Fox Theater nearby (there is no event at the Fox that night.) Phone (404) 873-FIRE.

RECOMMENDED DOWNTOWN HANGOUTS AND DINING FOR LSU FANS

Sidebar is LSU Atlanta's Official Bowl Tailgate Bar and is very close to the Georgia Dome and downtown hotels. It's a funky casual neighborhood bar and grill that will be taken over by Tiger fans before and after the game! 10 beers on tap and a full bar plus a great kitchen with great food including a killer Cuban sandwich. Watch other bowl games and the Peach Drop from the big screen TV.

Sidebar will open game day at 11:30 am and is located at 79 Poplar Street just four blocks from CNN Center. Parking is limited but there are lots on Luckie St., along Techwood, and of course, at the Georgia Dome lots. Check out Sidebar at www.sidebaratlanta.com. A portion of the bar sales will be donated to the LSU Atlanta scholarship endowment fund – our special thanks to Sidebar for their support!

Max Lager's Wood-Fired Grill & Brewery is the Official Chick-Fil-A Bowl SEC Headquarters and is in the heart of downtown Atlanta at 320 Peachtree Street, close to the major hotels and easy walking distance to the Georgia Dome. Max Lager's is Georgia's oldest independent brewery restaurant, offering an array of original fresh brews on tap, a full bar and a tantalizing menu that features wood fired pizzas, burgers, steaks, and other mouth-watering selections. It's the perfect cozy casual place to eat and party before and after the game. With a full service restaurant to go with the bar, they are also kid-friendly and a great place for everybody to ring in the New Year! Peach Drop on the big screen. AFTER THE GAME ... RING IN THE NEW YEAR! OUR TIPS:

  • The big public celebration is the Peach Drop at Underground Atlanta. It is about a mile walk from the Georgia Dome. Info at www.peachdrop.com.
  • Remember that while MARTA is usually very convenient, it will be very crowded for an hour or more after the game ends at the CNN/Ga. Dome station (Info on MARTA at www.itsmarta.com/getthere/schedules/index-rail.htm). Walking will likely get you anywhere faster than fighting the crowd on the platform. Cabs may also be hard to come by quickly after the game.

If you want to celebrate New Year's in style at a HUGE party, LSU Atlanta recommends you check out:

Downtown Countdown New Year's Eve Party – Hyatt Regency Atlanta
Just a few blocks from the Georgia Dome, the Downtown Countdown at the Hyatt Regency is the perfect way to celebrate an LSU victory and ring in the new year. This all-inclusive party features open bars, food buffets, live bands, DJs, comedians, and more! A reduced price "Bowl Game Party Ticket" gets you all of that after game (entry starting at 11pm) and allows you to reserve discounted rooms for only $165/night! Click here for full details and to purchase tickets and reserve rooms.

LSU-Friendly Postgame Gatherings With No Cover Charge
If you are looking for a more casual setting, both Sidebar and Max Lager's will be open with no cover charge after the bowl game. The kitchens will remain open until late for hungry Tigers as well, and underagers are allowed at Max Lager's.
