Want to see some fresh energetic faces excited about starting their college career at LSU? Sweet Send Off will again welcome these LSU-bound local high school grads and their guests into the LSU family this Sunday at 3 pm at historic Marlow House at the Marietta Town Square.
The two hour reception will feature LSU theme music, greetings, stories and tips about LSU by Ole War Skule alumni, door prizes and delectable sweets such as pralines by New Orleans Fine Catering, an LSU theme cake by Catered Cakes and a sinful sampling platter of goodies from Copeland’s of Atlanta. “Band Together Atlanta” Football Kick Off Party Aug. 29 Will Feature Sportswriter/LSU Book Author, Norcross High Band Director
Saturday, August 29, Noon- 3 pm - Copeland’s Restaurant (Cumberland)
Last year, Band Together Atlanta, a cooperative effort of LSU Atlanta and
Tiger Athletic Foundation’s Georgia Chapter, leveraged nearly $12,000 in funding which helped secure construction of a long-needed new Tiger Band Hall. The building has been funded with what has been raised by the Tiger Nation to date, but that doesn’t cover all the equipment and fixtures that go inside to make it functional. So we’re going to have another kickoff party and send them some more love.

We are fortunate to have two special guest speakers, including USA Today sports writer Ray Glier, author of “What It Means To Be A Tiger,” and Rudy Gilbert, an LSU alum who is Director of Bands at Norcross High School.
A raffle and live auction will be held with all proceeds to benefit the Tiger Band Hall fund so lots of LSU items will be going home with lucky drawing and auction winners. Watch for the list of prizes coming next week!

LSU License Plates: We Have AnswersDo you know a Tiger fan who knows about the LSU license plate program but isn’t sure about something? Do you have a question about how to get one?
You are not alone. Our board and active chapter members are regularly encountering people who heard about the plate program but had a very wrong impression about it with comments like:
“I didn’t graduate/go to LSU so I can’t get one.”
“I went to the tag office and they didn’t know anything about it so it’s been canceled.”
“If they don’t get to 1,000 I will lose my registration money.”
“Can’t I order this when I renew the plate I have?”
“I’m going to wait until they get to 1,000 to order mine.”
These and other mistaken and/or misinformed statements can be easily addressed by visiting our Web site. CLICK HERE to find all of the necessary information and downloadable applications.
We have an “LSU Ga License Plate” group on Facebook and have consistently promoted the program at all of our events and in this newsletter. It has been in the national LSU Alumni magazine. We also have distributed 3,000 business cards with the plate image and our Web address and will continue to make them available to anyone who wants to help spread the word. We have these cards available at all chapter gatherings.
For answers to your questions or to offer help/suggestions, please email Sarah Clayton.
Plate count as of 8/2/09: 443. We’ll get there, keep going Tiger fans!

2009 Football View In Locations
THANKS for the positive response we have already received to our expanded football view in location plan that will provide more metro area Tiger fans with closer opportunities to cheer and party together.
DOWNTOWN – Front Page News, Little Five Points
This will be the headquarters for our In Town Tigers subgroup designed for people who live inside the Perimeter and celebrate the “in town lifestyle” of Atlanta. Front Page News is upgrading their video and audio capabilities and offer drink specials to better serve us. How about having a live band playing La. style music after a game or two? We’ll see…NW ATL/COBB - Copeland’s Famous New Orleans Restaurant and Bar, Cumberland at Cobb Parkway

Copeland’s of Atlanta is excited to be a new Champion (top level) sponsor of LSU Atlanta and part of that partnership is to welcome LSU fans as royalty to watch Tiger Football on a big screen in their lounge area of the Cumberland location. They already host Saints fans for NFL games on Sundays so they are ready and able to transform the room into a Saturday Night in Tiger Stadium atmosphere. There will be drink specials and giveaways all season, and of course the menu is perfect for the Tiger palette.
GWINNETT – Sidelines Grille, Old Peachtree at Satellite Blvd.
Sidelines is a cozy casual restaurant/sports bar that is very convenient to Gwinnett, just west of I-85 off Old Peachtree exit at the corner of Satellite Blvd. and right in front of Home Depot. They have the capability to run separate audio between the bar and dining area so we can have our own designated viewing place every week. Steve and Jessica are not from Louisiana but know the fame of LSU fan spirit and are ready to offer bar specials and make everyone feel welcome. (Their Web site is being reconstructed this summer, we will provide the link when it becomes available again.)NORTH FULTON – Buffalo Wild Wings, Mansell Rd. Alpharetta
This location debuted last year and was actually the “test case” for expanding game viewing locations in Atlanta. Even with the unfortunate disappearance of LSU’s defense and the gift interceptions leading to losses last year, we still saw enough turnout and fan spirit to show that LSU fans wanted and would support places closer to where they live. BWW staff loves Tiger fans and the atmosphere is fan and family friendly. SW ATL – Newnan Tigers Football View Ins (John Hoth, Chairman)
The Newnan Tigers gather for tailgate cookouts at homes settings on LSU game days. Everyone brings a covered dish and their own adult beverages. To find out schedule and locations for their gatherings, email John at hothjf@gmail.com.
All of the restaurants will:
Show LSU games on big screen TVs with game audio
Offer food and/or drink specials (varies by location)
Feature a prize giveaway every week-all LSU fans get a ticket
Donate a portion of all food and beverage sales to LSU Atlanta
TIGER PRIZE PATROL – Featuring an array of great prizes will rotate to one location per week all season long. Everyone who comes gets one free ticket for the drawing at halftime with opportunity to increase their chances and help LSU Atlanta raise funds.
Please help us by planning to attend most if not all games in your area and telling all of your LSU fan friends about it too!
