Hey Tiger Fans,

The most storied football rivalry in the state of Louisiana will resume on Saturday when 15th-ranked LSU hosts Tulane. The game will be televised on TigerVision, LSU's pay-per-view network. Join us for a free view-in of the LSU-Tulane game at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Can't make it to Baton Rouge for the game? Join us for a free view-in of the pay-per-view broadcast. LSU Atlanta's official view-in location is Rio Grande Cantina in Buckhead (3227 Roswell Rd, http://www.riograndeatl.com). New for 2008, Buffalo Wild Wings in Alpharetta (2375 Mansell Road, 678-352-4599) has been added as a Northside view-in location.

Join us at the Tulane view-in to sign up for a special free subscription to Sports Unlimited Magazine, plus the opportunity to receive a 2007 LSU national championship commemorative issue, while supplies last. This special one-time promotion includes a 20 percent discount towards a $50 purchase at Dick's Sporting Goods, a chance to win a Green Egg or a $50 gift certificate to Dick's Sporting Goods. Plus, our scholarship fundraiser this week will include a grand prize -- a replica LSU jersey at each location.

CHANCELLOR LISTS PRIORITIES: (from LSU.edu) LSU Chancellor Michael Martin addressed members of the Baton Rouge Press Club on Monday, Oct. 27, in downtown Baton Rouge. During his talk, Martin discussed the top three things he wants to address as chancellor: continuing to build programs that bring the university national and international recognition; growing LSU's enrollment without lowering academic standards; and reaching out to the community, the state and the nation to improve lives.

"I believe public higher education can fundamentally transform society," Martin said, adding that he wouldn't still be working in the field of higher education if he didn't believe this.

Martin also spoke about some of the challenges that LSU faces, including maintaining and improving LSU's buildings and facilities to keep up with the times; developing different types of educational programs that cater more to nontraditional students; providing the types of facilities and services that today's students expect; and dealing with infrastructure issues that arise during renovations, such as making all buildings ADA compliant and handling asbestos abatement.

He also gave an update on the Forever LSU fundraising campaign, noting that the campaign has raised more than $563 million from all sources as of Aug. 31 on its way to a goal of $750 million by the end of 2010. Martin said that even with the current state of the economy, he still believes the university will reach its goal because "successful people want to bet on winners."

In addition, Martin discussed some aspects of LSU's Flagship Agenda, such as the plan to hire more top faculty and recruit quality graduate students.

Other topics he addressed were campus safety and the need for students to share the responsibility for their safety, and the fact that he has a great deal of confidence in the internal team at LSU. He also said he restricts his board service to two nonprofit, higher-education-related organizations for which he is not paid: the Farm Foundation and the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges.

LSU GEORGIA PLATES: The LSU Atlanta chapter is now accepting applications to have special LSU plates manufactured by the state:
Georgia Department of Revenue Commissioner Bart L. Graham has approved the LSU Atlanta Alumni Chapter's request for special interest or commemorative license plates in the state of Georgia. We have until April 24, 2010 to collect 1,000 pre-paid applications for the plates. If we reach 1,000 applications, the state will begin production, and LSU can join Auburn, Florida and Clemson as out-of-state schools with Georgia plates. With the Tiger football team treating the Georgia Dome like their home field (6-1, three SEC titles) -- and thousands of LSU alumni and fans across the state -- the LSU Atlanta chapter figured it was time we have our own Georgia plates, too. Details on how to apply for a plate, and a downloadable application, can be found at lsuatlanta.com: Application information for LSU plates in Georgia
