Gulf Restoration Network Benefit Show July 1 in Norcross

Benefit Concert for the Gulf Restoration Network
Thrasher Park in Old Downtown Norcross, GA (Thrasher St. at Park Dr.)

Next Thursday, July 1st  6:30  – 9:30PM

In an effort to assist the Gulf Region in the wake of this disastrous Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico, this local benefit concert has been organized by an LSU alum (Desiree Doucet) who was moved to do something in Atlanta to help.  The monies raised from concert attendees will be contributed directly to the Gulf Restoration Network, an established nonprofit with 15 years of experience in Wetlands matters. A $5 minimum vluntarydonation is being asked of attendees, and checks can be made directly to the charity if desired.

The concert will feature music by Shadowood, an acoustic duo playing both original and a variety of cover songs; and Clap for Daylight, a band with one album to their credit and featuring "eclectic music styles and an admittedly arrogant taste in artists."

Doucet says that while pets are not allowed in the park, she encourages you to bring the kids, eat dinner at a local restaurant in the Downtown Norcross area and then attend the concert in the park. "There is a wonderful playground for the kids to enjoy near the stage," she sasys.  "And be sure to pack a blanket to spread on the park’s luxurious lawn to relax while you enjoy the evening listening to live music in one of Norcross’s beautiful, new parks." There will be a bake sale booth with sweet treats available.

Doucet says this effort is part of a larger plan to hold concerts at venues all around the country on July 1 to benefit the Gulf Restoration Network.  She hopes to plan an even larger benefit before the end of summer.  Email her to volunteer or gain more information
