The Greater Atlanta LSU Alumni Club
As of 4/25/10 WE HAVE 512 Georgia resident Tiger fans have now prepaid to reserve their LSU license plate. The numbers are rising, but we need 1,000 prepaid orders to start production so PLEASE DO NOT WAIT TO APPLY!.
The deadline for the first license plate application period dictated by the state has passed. However, LSU Atlanta's board has decided to re-apply and we have to go by the State of Georgia's rules. What that means to our existing applicants is 2 things:
1). We will need your permission to continue with your application and payment that we have in escrow at a bank (separated from our operating checking account). You can do this by emailing us through the "contact us" link with a statement giving your name and address and permission to keep your application in force. or
2). You can also decide not to continue and we can refund your money and cancel your application. You can do this by emailing us through the "contact us" link letting us know your decision.
We have decided to really push the license plate this summer in conjunction with the North Carolina game in the GA. Dome. Please email us if you would like to volunteer to help during this time. Hopefully we will be able to reach a lot more local fans. We will continue to take in applications while the state processes the paperwork. With that application we will need a separate statement saying it is approved for us to keep your application in force. Once we have the new application ready to post that requirement will go away.
Recently the state made us aware that we can come up with all the funds required and then sell the plates until we recoup the upfront money. We don't have the funds to do that but there may be fans out there who could either donate funds or perhaps provide an interest free loan until we do make the 1000 plates sold.
HOW TO APPLY: 1. Print and complete an Application (click here to download) 2. Write a Check to: Louisiana State University Atlanta Alumni Chapter 3. Mail the Application along with a $25.00 fee to: Sarah Clayton, LSU Atlanta, 2221-D Peachtree Rd NW, # 344, Atlanta, GA 30309. Here's all the details: Each applicant for the LSU Alumni license plate must submit a Special Interest License Plate application and a $25 manufacturing fee to the Chapter. The funds shall be collected by the Chapter and held in a special non-interest bearing account until 1,000 applications have been received. After we receive 1,000 applications for the LSU Alumni license plate, the Chapter shall submit one check to cover all manufacturing fees along with the 1,000 applications for the LSU plate to the Georgia Department of Revenue Motor Vehicle Division. Note: License plate numbers will be distributed on a 1st come, 1st serve basis. The first 100 plates (numbers 001 – 100) require an additional charge of $25 (for a total of $50 per plate).
If you have any questions, please e-mail our committee chairwoman, Sarah Clayton at sleeclay@comcast.net. The chapter would like to thank Michele for a dedicated 18 months of effort to gain approval from the Georgia Department of Revenue to accept applications for the plates. Please also help us spread the word about this opportunity for LSU license plates in Georgia. The faster we receive 1,000 applications, the sooner you can have an LSU plate on your car. LET'S GEAUX GEORGIA TIGERS!
