The gates at Campus Crossings at Brightside sprung back into action Monday after lying dormant for months. The apartment complex is now one less off-campus facility with an inoperative gate system.
Angie Martel, manager of Campus Crossings at Brightside, said Thursday the gates were finally repaired after a long wait for parts.

The Nicholson Extension parking lot near Patrick F. Taylor Hall will undergo its final inspection this morning, said Gary Graham, director of the Office of Parking, Traffic and Transportation.
"The University, the state and the contractor are walking the lot, making sure that all of the things that are supposed to be done are done," Graham said.

Parking meters on campus will soon offer students 15-minute intervals and accept TigerCASH as payment, according to Gary Graham, director of the Office of Parking, Traffic and Transportation.
"In past years, students weren't allowed to park at the meters," Graham said.

Local women had the opportunity Saturday to audition for a position on The CW's "America's Next Top Model."
The auditions were held at Splash, a club on Highland Road. Several University students auditioned.

LSU offensive lineman Jarvis Jones was dismissed from the LSU football team, coach Les Miles announced on Thursday.
"The issues we had with Jarvis were internal and ones that we dealt with within the framework of our team," Miles said in a news release. "However, we just felt like it was time to go in a different direction.

Danny Bryan was promoted from student assistant to assistant coach of the men's tennis team by head coach Jeff Brown on Monday.
"I'm excited to take the next step in my career and to help continue the great tradition of LSU tennis," Bryan said in a news release.

This past Tuesday a University student, Cassie LeBlanc, was robbed while getting into her car after leaving the library around 9:30 p.m. The robber forced her against her car and asked for her wallet, then he discovered there was no cash. He decided he didn't want it, but after seeing text books on the front seat, the thief decided to take those instead.

You don't have to tell Robin Okrant women get a raw deal.

Abatement - the process of striping a building of hazardous material - ended in October for West Laville Hall. And in the nine months since, West Laville Hall has been sitting naked, waiting for the money to look right.
The University aims to reopen bidding of the residence hall's renovation in the coming 60 days, said Emmett David, director of Facility Development.

A simple robbery occurred Tuesday around 9:30 p.m. in the parking lot between Peabody Hall and the Indian Mounds.
Cassie LeBlanc, mass communication junior, said she was leaving the library to go to her car when a man pushed her against the car and twisted her right arm behind her.

Full-time undergraduate resident students will need to find an extra $234 to pay their yearly tuition, upon the Board's approval.

University officials are evaluating Nicholson Apartments with the possibility of "upgrading or replacing," according Steve Waller, director of Residential Life.
Waller said the scheduled demolition of Alex Box Stadium, which isn't expected to occur until the new stadium opens early next year, opened up the opportunity for evaluation.

The statewide ban on text messaging behind the wheel has been in effect since July 1, but Louisiana drivers may find themselves coasting through the law's major loophole.
The law makes texting while driving a secondary offense - meaning police cannot pull someone over for typing into a messaging device.

Louisiana residents considering going out of state for graduate school should think again.
House Bill 1156, which establishes the Grants for Grads program, was signed July 6 by Gov. Bobby Jindal.
The grant will give graduates of two- and four-year colleges $10,000 as a down payment on a house, with qualifying couples will receive $15,000.
